Sneak Peek Inside of Luxury Society

by on July 8, 2009

The publisher of one of our new daily industry reads – The Business of Fashion – has also launched a social network for the luxury industry, called the Luxury Society. Apparently the group is now up to about 2000 members, and so the network is starting to get some traction, in terms of  opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing.  The challenge with industry networks is getting insiders to share real insights and lessons (so we can all benefit) and at the same time, keep job hunting and business prospecting to an acceptable level so the community does not check out. Hopefully the team at Luxury Society can find that balance.

I have a few invitations left, so email me if you want an invite. Here’s a quick look – the design/implementation is clean and editorial is relevant and well-written so far:

SpaFinder Tries Other Options, Now Exclusive with Halogen

by on July 6, 2009

As Halogen builds out its sales teams in NYC, San Francisco and Chicago, our publishers are starting to commit with long term, exclusive contracts with our network. We recently signed such an agreement with SpaFinder, and we will have a dedicated sales executive in NYC, Sara Rasmussen, selling the Wellness and Beauty Channel for Halogen – of which SpaFinder is the anchor publisher.

We have started strong, with a major new campaign running on the site from Gillette (Venus and Spa Breeze Razors), and we are working with the SpaFinder team on new ad units, editorial programs and audience development plans. Here is the quote from Sallie Fraenkel, the COO of SpaFinder:

“After evaluating all the other alternatives, Halogen Network was the obvious choice because of  its proven track record of attracting top-quality advertisers. We look forward to working creatively with their team to develop and deploy advertising solutions that engage our audience.”

New Halogen Executive Lunches in NYC

by on July 2, 2009

We are hosting two more events for clients and prospective clients in New York this month:

-Tuesday July 14th, 12 noon at the CORE:Club; an executive briefing for luxury travel marketers on ‘best digital media practices’ to drive bookings and sales. We will be using several luxury brand travel case studies to discuss what is working online media, in terms of email, display and CPC programs.

-Thursday, July 16th, 12 noon at the CORE:Club; an executive briefing on Twitter and how brands can leverage real-time social media to drive brand awareness and engagement. We covered this topic last month, and the event was over-booked, so we are holding this briefing again.

Both events are limited to about 12 attendees and will be held at the CORE:club in midtown. If you are interested in attending, please email aly at halogennetwork.com.  Our last lunches have been attended by CMO’s and heads of marketing from brands such as Harry Winston, Prada, Trump Hotels, Zegna and many others  – my sense is that the attendees have enjoyed the conversation, networking and location.
